A RESOLUTION APPROVING SUBMITTAL OF
2001 TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT
PROGRAM (TIP).
Whereas, recommended 2001 TIP was prepared and prioritized by Department of Public
Works; and
Whereas, six projects are included in this year's submission; and
Whereas, Transportation Equity Act for 21 Century (TEA21) funding process requires a
competitive analysis of all projects submitted within identified urbanized boundaries; and,
Whereas, if Little Rock is successful in competing for available funds, a match of
$3,095,000 will be required if all projects selected and constructed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to submit 2001 Transportation
Improvement Program (TIP) for Little Rock.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.

2001 Proposed Transportation Improvement Projects
Regional Arterial Projects
Intersection Improvements
Improve intersections, identified by State Farm as most accident -prone intersections in
Little Rock. Currently a study pending, funded by State Farm grant, to recommend
improvements. Estimated project cost $2,450,000
a. Markham and Shackleford
b. Bowman and Chenal
C. Cantrell and University
d. Markham and Chenal
e. Asher and University
Asher Avenue, University to Roosevelt
Improve Asher, University to Roosevelt Road to a divided facility incorporating dual
buffered sidewalks. Asher Avenue is already planned for major reconstruction from
University west to Stagecoach/ Colonel Glenn Road. Estimated project cost $4,100,000.
Financial Centre, Autumn to Shackleford
Widening of Financial Centre, Autumn to Shackleford to six lanes with dual sidewalks
including dedicated bus turnouts and shelters. Project would re -align Autumn, Chenal,
Hermitage intersection and build on intersection improvements at Bowman and Chenal
listed above. Estimated project cost $1,950,000.
Non- Regional Arterial Projects
Fourche Dam Pike, Richland to Plantation
Improve Fourche Dam, Richland to Plantation, as 28' collector (two 12 -foot lanes and 4
feet of curb and gutter) with dedicated left turn lanes where warranted. Dual buffered
sidewalks will he included. Estimated project cost $1,400,000.
Mablevale Cutoff, Woodbridge to Shiloh
Complete Mabelvale Cutoff from Woodbridge to Shiloh. Money for design only in place
from Woodbridge to Fairwood. Project to be improved to a 4 lane arterial section with
dual buffered sidewalks, curbs, gutters and underground storm drainage. Estimated
project cost $3,575,000.
Scott Hamilton, J.E. Davis Drive to Baseline
Improve Scott Hamilton Road, J. E. Davis Drive to Baseline, to a four lane arterial
section with dual buffered sidewalks. Project will utilize sidewalk on one side to be
constructed in final location with 2000 Enhancement Funds. Estimated project costs
$2,000,000.
